With NC State`s Black Research Symposium, Innovation and Entrepreneurship is hosting a panel of four entrepreneurs in various industries and stages of their career. The panel is on March 24 at 5:30 PM at the Hunt Library in room IEI 4104.
The panelists:
Larry Long Jr. is the Founder and CEO (that’s Chief Energy Officer) of LLJR Enterprises, which focuses on sales motivation, inspiration, and most importantly, transformation through speaking, coaching & training programs. He is the host of the weekly Live show, ‘Midweek Midday Motivational Minute’ and Author of ‘JOLT!’.
Nakyrah Radney is an @ncstatedesign alum, who is using her college experience and artistic background to pursue her passions in entrepreneurship and content creation among various pursuits including her custom sneaker painting venture, Kyrah’s Customs.
Travis McKay was a 2022 NC State eGames winner and recent engineering researcher-turned-entrepreneur. Travis is the co-founder of a medical device company striving to make pre-hospital care easier for EMS providers.
Phillip “King Phill” Loken describes himself as a “Black Southern Culture Documentarian.” His photography employs a range of approaches including fine-art, documentary, and character-studies, with the unifying thread being a desire to present bold and meaningful portraits of Black lives in the South from an insider’s perspective.

Entrepreneurship Ambassadors are a part of a 12-student cohort and learn about all the amazing entrepreneurship opportunities NC State has to offer by participating in events, getting access to exclusive speakers and networking opportunities, getting trained on how to use equipment at the prototyping lab and working closely with NC State Innovation and Entrepreneurship staff.
Their primary responsibility is to be the student voice of NC State Innovation and Entrepreneurship, assist us in spreading the word about entrepreneurship across campus, and provide feedback on how we can improve our student programs. Not to mention, ambassadors are invited to special events and receive complimentary swag!

Marshall Brain, director of the Engineering Entrepreneurs Program and a lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was recognized with the John S. Risley Entrepreneur of the Year award for his work to help engineering students develop an entrepreneurial mindset and learn about launching new ventures.

The application for next year`s Social Innovation Fellows cohort is open now through March 12th! The Social Innovation Fellows is an award-winning co-curricular program open to undergraduate and graduate students from every college at NC State. Fellows commit to one year of working on teams of peers with mentors, entrepreneurial experts, and local and international social enterprises. Fellows receive up to $1500 in funding for further engagement in social innovation/social entrepreneurship activities in addition to content, opportunities and resources to learn and practice solving complex social problems. @ncstatesif
