Q&A With Leazar Award Recipient Gabe Huntsman
NC State alum Eli Hornstein’s company, Elysia Creative Biology, is curbing greenhouse gas emissions from cattle with university support. His startup, part of the NC Plant Science Initiative’s Seed2Grow incubator, uses engineered feed crops to reduce methane emissions.
NC State offers programs to help entrepreneurs at every step, from Innovation and Entrepreneurship`s Miller Fellows to the Office of Research Commercialization`s I-Corps program to the Plant Science Initiative`s incubator, and more. “Take advantage of some of the existing entrepreneurship programs at NC State to build your bridge and let that relationship try to grow a bit organically,” he says. 🌱

A new partnership between the NC State Andrews Launch Accelerator and tech consulting group Surety Systems will support two early-stage companies, PointHalo and CN-Seamless, in this summer`s accelerator. Together, the Entrepreneurship Clinic and Surety Systems will provide the resources and guidance that each team needs to scale up toward their goals. Be sure to attend Demo Day on August 27 to see all the progress this year`s cohort has made.

Frank and Anoma Newlands Scholarship was established through a generous donation from the Newlands to support outstanding entrepreneurial efforts among NC State’s undergraduate student population. We are excited to announce Avaneesh Ravat as a 2024 recipient of the Drs. Frank and Anoma Newlands Entrepreneurship Scholarship!
Avaneesh is a freshman in engineering and a co-founder of Meias, a self-started company that developed a smart sock capable of notifying users of potential harmful foot movement patterns using sensors and artificial intelligence.
