Poole Alumni Create Website for Others to Pledge Stimulus Checks
NC State alumni Kevin Miller and Ryan O’Donnell felt they could put their economic impact payments to better use by giving some away to others in need. The two joined forces to build Pledge My Check – a website encouraging recipients of stimulus checks to pledge a portion of their funds to those most impacted by COVID-19.
With an initial plan of receiving $10,000 in pledges, Miller and O’Donnell quickly surpassed their goal. The website currently reports over $68,000 in pledges from 123 people across 15 states.
Both Miller and O’Donnell are graduates of the Poole College entrepreneurship program.
According to Prince, Pledge My Check is “a super easy way to take something that essentially was put in your lap and say, ‘I want to use this to help other people’”.
