Bio

Marissa is a junior studying Textile Engineering with a minor in Industrial Engineering. Her goal is to create smart, high-performance clothing to decrease injuries and reduce recovery time for professional athletes.

She is a high school younglife leader and is involved with Young Life college through NC State. She loves getting to mentor girls and getting to do life with them. She works for the NEXT (Nano-EXtended Textiles) research group and is currently working on a project dealing with big data sets and machine learning. Marissa is also a career fair ambassador. This position has allowed her to meet other engineers from different backgrounds and has given her the experience to set up an entire career fair and interact with the various companies. She loves challenging herself and feels grateful to have such a strong and intellectual community around her.

In her spare time, Marissa loves hiking, doing yoga, and overall being active. She enjoys cooking and traveling. She’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie and loves trying new things. She’s also a social butterfly and loves spending quality time with people.
