Sameer Murarka Entrepreneurship Scholar and NC State Entrepreneurship Scholar

Bio

Katie Lawson is a senior studying industrial and systems engineering with a concentration in human systems in the College of Engineering. She is also pursuing a cognitive science minor. Katie has been involved in entrepreneurship at NC State since her freshman year, through her participation as the president for the Entrepreneurship Ambassador Program and is the first 2019 e5x Entrepreneurship Scholar. In 2020 She was awarded the Sameer Murarka Entrepreneurship Scholarship and NC State Entrepreneurship Scholarship.

Katie’s goal is to advance technology and systems to increase functionality and usability for those serving our country in the Armed Forces. She served as a consultant for Easy Masks, a hosiery mill that pivoted during COVID to manufacture face masks. Katie used her ISE training to work with a talented team at Harriss and Covington Hosiery Mill in High Point, NC to maximize the efficiency of product packaging.

In her free time, Katie enjoys hiking, playing beach volleyball, and spending time with friends.
